Keep Your Eyes Peeled
Dear Readers,
I never thought of how creepy the above expression must sound to people beyond the West. All it means is to stay watchful, alert, with your eyelids up! Really.
Charles W. Stenholm is a former Congressman and lobbyist I'm watching. A Democrat from Texas, Charlie Stenholm is lobbying to reopen horse slaughter plants in the U.S., claiming the process is as humane as a lethal injection. Some people wanted him as Secretary of the Interior or Agriculture, but that hasn't happened.
He's a political player to watch, and the more of us, the better.

Comments: I just do not understand how some people can eat horses. I mean they are healthy work animals that are used as meat. Pigs and cows are raised for that sometimes but horses are bred for endurence, streangth, and sometimes to be a great friend in the end. This saddens my heart.

P.S. Something that's funny is that whenever my sister hears that saying, she closes her eyes and places her hands over them, yelling "I don't want to peel my eyes!" It's really funny!
I WILL keep my eyes peeled! even double peeled! I'm sorry, the leathal injection and horse slaughter plans are both disgusting and INHUMANE!! Maybe we wouldn't have these problems if the BLM didn't round up more horses then needed! Huh buddy Mr. Congress man, ever think of that?!?!
Plus, i know I'd rather be just killed than eaten after death if i was a horse
plus plus, by opening the slaughter plants, everyone knows there's a possibility they'll just keep on roundin' up and killing! arrg, i'm mad
I wonder if the people who eat our race horses are aware that they're pumped full of drugs -- 'bute and things like that.
Oh yeah! What a great point!!! And ex-rodeo broncs too, who are all bucked out! Ha, ha, ha! Little do they know!
If you remember CONRAD BURNS -- the legislator famous for the BURNS AMENDMENT which mandated the sale of wild horses with no questions asked about what would become of them --
he is a lobbyist for the American Quarter Horse Association, which, as an organization, supports slaughter.
That is horrible! Do they still support slaughter? You'd think the AQHA wouldn't support it!
They support it for the same reason many business breeders do : they sell their "mistakes" -- horses which don't properly represent their bloodlines. And, sometimes, horses which have outlived their competitive lives. For the most part, there's nothing wrong with these horses.
Wow, that's disgusting and awful!
Mistakes!!? I would gladly take one of those... for my own I mean... just to have a horse would be a blessing to me. I'm astonished.
